(609) 748-0222When bad things happen to you, see it as an obstacle to be overcome. Life is a journey of learning and growth, and everything happens for a reason. Obstacles are the things stopping you from getting your goals, and if you keep overcoming these obstacles, you’ll eventually get what you want.
About two decades ago, a giant U.S. chemical company (Monsanto) invented genetically modified (GM) crops and sold them to farmers with one main promise. GM crops could be sprayed with Monsanto‘s glyphosate, killing the weeds, but not the crop. This was supposed to save farmers time and money by reducing the use of pesticides. Instead, glyphosate spraying left more, not less, toxic residues in food and animal feed and caused cancer (non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) in American farming communities. Techno foods (like Impossible Burger - fake meat made from highly processed ingredients), demonstrate that everything imaginable is not necessarily achievable. The Rodale Institute has shown that if global crops and pastureland were managed according to regenerative systems, 100% of global CO2 emissions could be stored in soils. An organic food supply would not only reduce global warming but vastly improve human health and the viability of world healthcare systems.
When researchers analyzed three groups of exercisers over 12 weeks (one did high-intensity aerobic interval training called HIIT, one did resistance training, and one that did a combination of the two), they found that those who did HIIT actually reversed that age-related degeneration. Translation: Their mitochondria actually worked like those of much younger people.
When thinking of your long-term health goals, it’s essential to understand that spinal health is about more than getting rid of pain. Spinal health has a long-term impact on every function affected by the spinal nerves, which influence every organ system in your body. Breathing is a good example. A case published in the 1980’s involved a 53 yr. old man with a 20-year history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. More than 14 months after starting chiropractic care, the amount of air he was able to forcibly exhale in one complete breath ("forced vital capacity") and the amount of air he could move in the first second of that complete breath had both improved substantially (1 liter and 0.3 liters, respectively). This case is part of a growing body of literature indicating that improved spinal health through chiropractic care is often accompanied by improved lung volumes (and so much more!). Who do you know that could benefit from chiropractic care?
Swiss chard contains significant amounts of potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, vitamin A, vitamin C and numerous other micronutrients. It is also loaded with antioxidants that can help with fighting and protecting against cancer. The chlorophyll in Swiss chard has been found to help block cancer-causing heterocyclic amines in grilled meats. Consuming Swiss chard also decreases the risk of diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Eating it regularly improves skin tone and boosts energy levels.
