YOUR HEALTHY TIDBITS; VOLUME 17 ISSUE 19

TIDBIT #1

It is essential to have influences in your life that support you and lift you up instead of dragging you down so carefully consider what you let into your mind. Ask yourself: Who are the 3 most negative people I spend time with? What are the 3 of most negative sources of information I spend time on? Then start spending less time with one of those people or information sources this week and spend more of the time you have now freed up with one of the most positive sources or people in your life.

In a new study published in Environmental Health, a U.S. research team determined that exposure to organophosphorus pesticides (OP) is associated with negative changes in several bacterial groups and in the metabolic pathways supported by the human gut microbiome. OPs have been associated with various human health conditions. Animal experiments and in-vitro models suggested that OPs may also affect the gut microbiota. Pesticide exposure has been linked to other adverse health impacts on the gut, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The continuous growth and adoption of organic agricultural and land management practices is a hopeful sign of systems change away from the chemical treadmill and dependence on these kinds of pesticides. Yet advocates are weary of piecemeal bans when the foundation of inaction stems from a failed regulatory system that permits the use of toxic pesticides.

TIDBIT #3: DIET TIP

Go to Bed Hungry. If you skip that midnight snack, your body will burn fat like crazy. After five hours without food, you’ll start burning your own fat and sugar. It may even help you sleep better, since having fewer carbs in your bloodstream allows your body to produce the hormones it needs to bring on sleep
